I’m so grateful that in my short life I’ve been able to explore so many corners of this world. If you’ve ever been lucky enough to see the Grand Canyon, though, you’ll know that this corner is especially incredible. During our cross-country move, Brendan and I spent a day hiking around the South Rim and taking in some of the most epic views North America has to offer. Deep gorges hide beneath layers of red stone and towers of rock that will make you feel exceptionally tiny. It was hard to tell sometimes if the whooshing sound coming from the canyon was wind or the raging Colorado River below. Despite the sweltering heat, we met people on the trail who had hiked 24 miles from one rim to the next. Yikes! Brendan and I managed to fit in both a sunset and sunrise (who needs sleep?), and it’s hard to say which one was more magnificent. I’m not sure I’ve seen one landscape reflect so many different colors during a sunset – it was without a doubt one of the most remarkable and awe-inspiring things I’ve witnessed. One day certainly wasn’t enough, and someday I hope to be able to photograph a couple in this beautiful landscape (oh man, can you even image how amazing that would be?!). Grand Canyon, we’ll be back!
