If I had to describe a perfect weekend, our three days spent in Tahoe last month with Brendan’s brother and sister-in-law would be the first on my mind. If you happened to be like us and keep tabs on Tahoe’s weather this winter, then you’ll know that they got a INSANE amount of show this year. 25 feet in January alone! Coming from NC where we get at least a little snow each year, it was odd to have a winter of pure rain here in Santa Rosa. It honestly never really felt like a real winter! Tahoe cured my itch for a snow day, and I think these pictures show just what a winter wonderland this place is. The snow was so deep that I actually sunk all the way up to my hips at one point! From snow shoeing to skiing to epic overlooks, we took full advantage of this gorgeous area, and I was able to come home with some of my favorite pictures ever.
As a reference for those of you trip planners out there, we stayed in the Nevada side of South Lake Tahoe (the view from our back porch is below and looked into Nevada’s snow-covered desert!) and took trips to Truckee, Heavenly and Emerald Bay. I cannot recommend this place for a winter getaway and can’t wait to return in the summer to play on the lake!
