Earlier this spring Brendan and I took our first “real” vacation since our honeymoon! We’ve been on vacation with family and we’ve certainly traveled a lot over the years together (mostly for work or interviews), but never taken a good bit of time to go anywhere with just the two of us. So, we went to Playa del Carmen! It was our first time at an all-inclusive since Brendan really needed a true vacation where we could get there and not have to think or worry about a thing. It definitely came with its pros and cons, but this was one of our favorite trips, and I’m so excited to show you a bit of the colorful pictures I got to take while there! Most of the pictures I take are with Fuji 400H (my favorite film stock), but I got a roll of Kodak Ektar 100 at WPPI in February and loved playing with a new film stock down there! The images that have a bit more pop or contrast were taken with it, and I’m convinced it one of the best stocks you can shoot in a sunny, tropical location.
Brendan and I would go back to this place in a heartbeat, although, full disclosure, probably not to an all-inclusive. We love experiencing the culture of the places we visit and that’s tough when you’re secluded to a resort. We both left feeling like we could’t really say we’d been to Mexico! Always great to have a reason to go back, though, right? ;)
