Versailles is one of those classic must-do day trips from Paris – and for good reason! This was my third visit to Versailles, and it was even more spectacular that I’d remembered. The sheer size of the property alone makes it worth spending more than one day to really explore everything. Thankfully, they had bike rentals on site, which made for speedy (and sore feet-relieving!) transportation around the grounds! I think the single greatest part of this day was, as silly as it seems, how we accidentally skipped the 2-3 hour line to get in! Pro tip: grab a bite at the cafe just to the left of the entrance and they’ll scoot you right up to the front of the security line when you’re finished ;)
Once we were in, we spent a couple hours wondering through the chateau (with the masses) taking in the opulent decor and many fancily decorated rooms. I was a particular fan of the ceilings – so beautiful! When we were finished up with the main house, we meandered our way through the gardens for a bit before hoping on some bikes and heading over to the Trianon and Marie Antoinette’s little village. While it’s definitely a hike (especially if you’re walking), it’s so worth it to explore the other side of the property! The Trianon has beautifully manicured gardens and it was fun to wander around a village that looked like it was straight out of a Disney movie. This was truly one if my absolute favorite days of our trip, and I’m in love with the pictures I was able to take of such an incredible property!
