Jill and Rob’s Wilmington waterfront wedding was one of the sweetest events I got to be a part of this year! Many, many decades ago, Jill’s great grandparents built a house on a sloping, shady piece of land that worked its way to the teal blue waters of the Intracoastal Waterway. And a couple generations later, their kids and grandkids did the same – found their patch of land on the Hollis family property and built their forever home. This is the land that Jill grew up on. And on a breezy April day with her childhood home in the background as she walked down the aisle, it’s the land she got married on.
Jill will be the first to tell you that this whole day was about family – the history of the property, them coming together for the first time in many years and the importance of celebrating the time they’d share together that weekend. Little lanterns at the ceremony honored loved ones no longer with them, but the pews were fill with people who had traveled far and wide to witness one of the sweetest ceremonies I’ve had the privilege to document. White roses lining the aisle looked as if they were growing out of the ground, and the installation on the live oak tree (dubbed “Jill’s tree” by her parents) was a perfect backdrop for the couple. A few portraits were taken down by the family’s dock, a nice nod to the water that holds so many memories.
Jill and Rob’s easygoing and unfussy approach to their Wilmington waterfront wedding made the day feel so relaxed and calm. Add in a *stellar* team of vendors and this day was actual dream come true!
