Bouquet Breakdown: Finding Your Floral Style

November 2017

It was so exciting to see this wedding floral inspiration on the front page of Style Me Pretty last week, and today I’m sharing a few of my favorite images here! This shoot included SO many details and to really get a feel for our mission behind it, I’d encourage you to read through the SMP feature. Keegan of Petal Atelier has such an artistic vision behind her arrangements – it was so much fun to watch her create them! As a fellow art history student, her words resonate with me so much, and I appreciate and relate to her artistic approach to her craft.

In a nut shell, we did this shoot to help brides think outside of the box when it comes to their bouquets. Education has become an important part of what I do and how I serve my couples. Many people have no idea what to expect when it comes to planning a wedding, and it often becomes WAY more work than they anticipated. I, for one, had ideas and styles in mind when it came to planning my own wedding (5 years ago – ah!), but there were so many details that I didn’t ever think about having to make a decision about. Like the individual flowers I wanted in my bouquet and arrangements. Erm – idk, pretty ones?? That’s why hiring experienced and dedicated professionals whose vision aligns with yours is SO important. Keegan and I have often found ourselves working alongside brides who have a clear style and vision for their day, but weren’t quite sure how to execute that vision into an actual aesthetic (reason #239 why hiring a planner is a great idea).

This shoot was designed to help brides see how different styles can be translated into floral arrangements. We created five different and distinct bouquets that used unique flowers to help educate brides about just a few of the options they have when it comes to floral choices so they can have a more collaborative experience with their florist. The bouquets Keegan created show how unusual elements can add texture and personality to a arrangement. She used SO many flowers I had never heard of or even seen before – gloriosa lilies? Those things are crazy looking! We hope that these bouquets and the breakdown of each one inspires brides to pull from them what fits the most with their own wedding vision so they can take those ideas and let their florist create something beautiful with them.
